About Dreamkin

Most dream interpretation comes from a single worldview. Dreamkin reads your dream from within the tradition you grew up in, or the one you chose for yourself.

Why this exists

Someone with a confusing dream used to ask a grandmother, an imam, a wintiman, an elder in the family. Someone who knew both you and the tradition you come from. Through migration, secularisation and distance, that person has fallen away for many people.

What remains is a dream dictionary written from a Western perspective. For someone raised with Winti, or who knows the Islamic dream tradition, that explains their own inner world in someone else's language.

What the readings are based on

Every tradition page is written from within the tradition itself: its own terms, its own way of seeing. We do not place a neutral version beside it, because that would repeat the very problem.

The texts are compiled from existing, publicly available sources on each tradition, and written with care. They are not written by initiates of every tradition, and we would rather say so than leave it unsaid. Where we receive input from people with practical knowledge, we incorporate it and credit it.

What we deliberately do not do

No ritual instructions. No prescriptions for baths, offerings or ceremonies. No statements about which force, winti or Orisha belongs to you. Within every tradition that is determined by people with real knowledge, within a community, and not by a website or a model.

No predictions about illness, death or misfortune. Where a tradition holds such readings, we describe them as something the tradition says, not as something that will happen.

Questions, corrections and additions are welcome, and especially from people with practical knowledge of any of these traditions. We adjust the texts accordingly.
