Dreaming of your hair in the Bible: meaning
In the Bible hair is strength, devotion and a sign of God's care: even the hairs on your head are counted. A dream about hair is therefore often read in the Christian tradition as a question about where your strength comes from.
Within this tradition
The best-known biblical hair story is that of Samson. His strength lay in his unshaven hair, as a sign of his dedication to God. When Delilah had his hair shaved off, he lost his strength. Only when his hair began to grow again did it return. Dreams in which your hair is cut off, especially by someone you trusted, are sometimes held up against this story in the tradition: where are you letting your strength be taken, and by whom?
At the same time hair in the Bible stands for God's care down to the smallest detail. Jesus tells his disciples that even the hairs of their head are all counted, and that they therefore need not be afraid. A dream in which you lose your hair can be read in that light as fear asking for reassurance: even what you lose is seen.
Hair is also an image of devotion. Mary anoints the feet of Jesus and wipes them with her hair, a gesture of love and surrender that astonishes those around her. Dreams in which your hair plays a part in something you give to another can thus point to devotion.
As with every dream, the tradition tests this one against Scripture, prayer and people you trust. A dream about hair after a visit to the hairdresser is often simply a dream about a visit to the hairdresser.
