Dreaming of insects in Islam: meaning
The Quran names several insects, each with its own charge. The ant warns her people about Solomon's army, the bee receives inspiration from God, and locusts and lice belong to the plagues that strike Pharaoh. In classical dream interpretation the meaning therefore differs greatly per insect.
Within this tradition
In the chapter of the Ants Solomon hears an ant warn her people: enter your dwellings, so that Solomon and his army do not crush you without noticing. Solomon smiles and thanks God. Ants therefore stand in the tradition for a community, care for one another and hard work. In the works attributed to Ibn Sirin, many ants can also stand for family, a group of people or provision.
The bee has its own chapter, the Bee, which says that God inspired her to build homes and that from her comes a drink that is healing for people. A bee in a dream is therefore often read favourably: useful work, blessing or knowledge.
Locusts and lice appear among the plagues that strike Pharaoh in the chapter of the Heights. In classical interpretation swarms of locusts are often read as an army, a mass of people or a trial. Lice can stand for worries, but also for family or people who depend on you.
As always in tabir: dreams that come from aversion or the worries of the day are above all about those. You do not tell a nasty insect dream around; you seek refuge in God.
