Dreaming of insects in wicca: meaning
In wicca and related nature spirituality small creatures are not seen as dirty, but as part of the web of life. They live close to the earth and beneath the surface. An insect dream is therefore often read as a glimpse of what crawls beneath the surface of your own life.
Within this tradition
Many wiccans work with the idea of animal messengers: animals that stand out in dreams or in daily life carry something that needs attention. Insects are no exception. They are small, numerous and often live hidden, in the ground, under leaves or in corners. Precisely because of that they are read as images of what you do not see at once: small habits, worries or thoughts quietly taking up a lot of space.
Along those lines people look at the kind of insect. Ants and bees stand for community and cooperation; in many pagan traditions the bee is also connected with the goddess and with sweetness after hard work. Beetles and cockroaches live off what decays, and can be read as clearing and transformation: what is old makes way. Worms make the earth fertile.
A dream in which insects overwhelm you is often read as an invitation to grounding. After such a dream many practitioners take some time outside, barefoot on the ground, or literally clear a corner of their home.
Wicca has no central doctrine; readings differ per tradition and per person. What the dream means for you, you weigh against your own feeling.
