Dreaming of money in Islam: meaning
In the Islamic tradition all provision, rizq, comes from God. Money in a dream is therefore often read as provision coming to you, but classical interpreters sometimes also see words or worries in coins.
Within this tradition
The Quran calls God ar-Razzaq, the Provider, and reminds the believer that possessions are a trust, not ownership without responsibility. Paying zakat, the obligatory alms, is seen as a purification of what you have. In the tradition money is therefore never neutral: it is provision, test and responsibility at once.
In classical interpretation, as attributed to Ibn Sirin, readings of money vary. Some interpreters read coins as words: good or bad, depending on the coin and the context. Others read money in the hand as worries you carry, because possessions also bring burdens. Found money is often read as provision coming from an unexpected direction, especially when it is found calmly and without guilt.
Giving money is interpreted favourably in most readings, especially when given as sadaqa, voluntary charity. The tradition says that charity does not diminish wealth. Stealing money or taking it unlawfully, on the other hand, is read unfavourably, as something not yours that will weigh on you later.
As always in tabir, the dreamer counts. Someone who worries about money during the day often dreams about it, and such a dream comes from what occupies the soul. The tradition then points not to interpretation, but to trust in the Provider and to acting sensibly.
