Dreaming of school in Islam: meaning
According to a well-known tradition seeking knowledge is a duty for every Muslim. The first revelation of the Quran begins with the word iqra, read. A dream about school or learning is therefore often read favourably in the Islamic tradition, as an invitation to knowledge.
Within this tradition
The first words that according to tradition were revealed to the Prophet are: read, in the name of your Lord who created; He who taught by the pen. Knowledge therefore has a high place in Islam. According to a tradition God makes easy a path to paradise for whoever walks a path seeking knowledge. And the Quran says: are those who know equal to those who do not know?
In classical dream interpretation a school, a teacher or a book is often connected with knowledge, guidance and growth in faith. Learning in a dream can be read as acquiring useful knowledge. A teacher explaining something to you, as someone showing you the way. Seeing a Quran school or madrasa, as nearness to faith. Not understanding something or missing the lesson can be read as an encouragement to seek knowledge where you need it.
Teaching yourself is read favourably, because passing on beneficial knowledge is according to tradition one of the things that keep working after your death.
As always in tabir, the dreamer counts. Someone who studies or works at a school simply dreams of it more often.
