Dreaming of an airplane in Islam: meaning
The classical dream books knew no airplanes, but they did know journeys and height. Contemporary interpreters extend those lines: an airplane can stand for a journey, a rapid change of status or a goal you reach. Crashing is read more cautiously, but not as a prediction.
Within this tradition
In the works attributed to Ibn Sirin, travel is often read as change: from one state to another, from worry to relief or the other way around. Height stands for standing or a higher position, and rising into the air for reaching a goal. Contemporary interpreters apply that to the airplane: a flight can be read as a rapid change, a journey that brings something, or a step up.
A calm flight with a good landing is read favourably along those lines: a plan that succeeds, a journey in safety. A plane crashing or running into trouble is read more cautiously, as a plan stalling or an ambition set too high. That reading is a possibility, not a prediction.
Islam has a supplication for travel, which many Muslims also say on a plane: glory to Him who has subjected this to us. Someone who recites that supplication in a dream can read it as trust and protection on the way.
As always in tabir, the dreamer counts. Someone with a fear of flying or who is flying soon often simply dreams about what occupies them. You do not tell a frightening dream around; you seek refuge in God.
