Dreaming of a horse in Islam: meaning

In the Islamic tradition the horse is a noble animal. According to a well-known tradition, goodness is bound to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Judgement. In classical interpretation a horse often stands for honour, standing and strength.

Within this tradition

The Quran opens a chapter with an oath by the horses that charge at a gallop, strike sparks and raid at dawn. Elsewhere the Quran names horses among the things people desire in this life. And according to a tradition, the Prophet said that goodness is bound to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Judgement. So the horse has an honourable place in the tradition.

In the works attributed to Ibn Sirin, a horse in a dream often stands for honour, standing and power. Riding a strong, obedient horse is read favourably: your affairs are going well and you have them in hand. A horse that will not obey or bolts points to affairs slipping away from you. Falling off a horse is read as loss of standing or position.

The colour and condition of the horse count. A well-kept, beautiful horse is read more favourably than a thin or injured one. A horse you are given can stand for a position or honour entrusted to you.

As always in tabir, the dreamer counts. Someone who works with or rides horses often simply dreams about them. And an anxious dream about a horse chasing or kicking you can belong to hulm, which need not be interpreted.
