Dreaming of a house in the Bible: meaning
In the Christian tradition a house often stands for your inner self, and the imagery of foundation and building comes with it.
Within this tradition
The house is among the most used images in this tradition, precisely because the Bible does so much with it: building on rock or sand, a house set in order, a door being knocked on.
A dream about a house is therefore often read as something about yourself: how you stand, what is maintained and what neglected.
The foundation gets its own attention. Cracks or subsidence are read as a question about what you build on, not as an announcement of loss.
A door being knocked on is an image many believers recognise instantly. What is done with it, opening or leaving it, weighs more in the reading than the knocking itself.
Jesus tells his disciples: in my Father's house are many rooms, and I go to prepare a place for you. For many Christians that is one of the most comforting images of life after death. Joshua says: as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, and at Zacchaeus' house Jesus says: today salvation has come to this house. A house in the Bible thus stands for a family, a community and for the place God prepares for people. A dream about an unknown room or a large house with many rooms is sometimes read hopefully in that light.

Does the house stand for me or for my family?
Usually for yourself, although the parental home is more often read towards origin and family.
What does in my Father's house are many rooms mean?
A promise of Jesus in John 14 that a place is being prepared for his followers: an image of coming home.
Is such a dream a message from God?
Dreamkin does not say so. The tradition tests such questions through prayer, Scripture and people you trust.
