Dreaming of a party in Islam: meaning

Islam has two great festivals: Eid al-Fitr after Ramadan and Eid al-Adha at the pilgrimage. They are days of prayer, gratitude, family and generosity. In classical dream interpretation a festival, especially an Eid, is therefore often read favourably: relief, joy after hardship and blessing.

Within this tradition

According to tradition, when the Prophet came to Medina and saw that the people had two feast days, he said that God had given them two better days: the day of sacrifice and the day of breaking the fast. Those days begin with a communal prayer, and belong with family visits, new clothes, good food and giving to those who have less, such as the zakat al-fitr and sharing the sacrificial meat.

In the works attributed to Ibn Sirin, an Eid in a dream is often read as relief from worries, joy after sorrow, or the return of someone who was away. Seeing or praying the Eid prayer, as repentance and a new beginning. A wedding or meal at which people gather, as connection and provision.

Classical interpreters are more cautious about parties full of loud music, drink or exuberance that crosses the limits of faith; those are sometimes read as unrest or a trial. Where the emphasis is on gratitude and togetherness, the reading is favourable.

As always in tabir the dreamer counts: someone preparing a party simply dreams of it more often.
