Dreaming of bees in wicca: meaning

Within this tradition

In Greek antiquity the priestesses of some goddesses were called melissai, bees, and the bee was connected with the great mother and with prophecy. In many European regions, including England and parts of the Netherlands, the custom of telling the bees survived into the twentieth century: at a birth, marriage or death someone went to the hives to tell the bees the news, sometimes with a black cloth at a death. Whoever forgot would see the bees leave.

Modern wiccans take up that thread. The bee stands for community, cooperation and the cycle of blossom and harvest. A bee in a dream can be read as a message telling you something about your community or coven: do you work together, do you carry your share, and are you cared for? Honey stands for sweetness, healing and the reward of patience, and is also used in rituals of blessing.

A bee sting can be read in wicca readings as a painful but useful insight. An abandoned hive as the question of whether you are neglecting your connections. And because bees live close to the sun and the flowers, bee dreams are often connected with spring and Beltane.
