Dreaming of bees in Islam: meaning

The bee has its own chapter in the Quran, An-Nahl, The Bee. It says that God inspired the bee to build homes, and that from it comes a drink of various colours, in which there is healing for people. A bee in a dream is therefore often read favourably in classical interpretation.

Within this tradition

The verses in the chapter of the Bee say: your Lord inspired the bee: make homes in the mountains, in the trees and in what people build; then eat of all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord. From their bellies comes a drink of various colours, in which there is healing for people. Honey is therefore seen in the Islamic tradition as blessing and as a means of healing.

According to a well-known tradition the Prophet compared the believer to a bee: it eats only what is good, produces only what is good, and when it alights somewhere, it breaks or spoils nothing. That comparison colours dream interpretation.

In the works attributed to Ibn Sirin, a bee often stands for useful work, blessing and rizq, provision. Eating or finding honey is read as halal provision, knowledge or healing. A beehive as a community or family working in harmony. A bee sting can be read as a small setback or a word that hurts, but often also as something that turns out well in the end, such as a lesson.

As always in tabir, the dreamer counts. Someone who keeps bees or deals with them a lot simply dreams of them more often.
