Dreaming of bees in the Bible: meaning
In the Bible honey is the image of abundance and sweetness: the promised land flows with milk and honey, and God's words are sweeter than honey. And in the story of Samson he finds a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of a lion. Bees and honey are therefore often read hopefully in Christian readings.
Within this tradition
When God calls Moses at the burning bush, he promises to lead the people to a land flowing with milk and honey. That expression returns again and again as an image of blessing and freedom after slavery in Egypt. Psalm 19 says of God's commandments that they are more desirable than gold, and sweeter than honey from the comb. A dream about honey can be read in that light as blessing, or as longing for something that nourishes.
In Judges 14 Samson kills a young lion. When he later returns, he finds a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass. He makes a riddle about it: out of the eater came something to eat, out of the strong came something sweet. The image of sweetness arising where there was first threat is often used in Christian readings for hope after a hard time.
Bees can also be threatening in the Bible. In Deuteronomy and the Psalms enemies are compared to a swarm of bees surrounding you. A swarm chasing you can thus be read as opposition or busyness from many sides, with the psalmist's trust that he still stands firm.
As always, the tradition tests a dream against prayer, Scripture and people you trust.
