Dreaming of birds in the Bible: meaning
In the Bible birds are often signs of God's care. The Spirit descends like a dove, ravens bring Elijah bread, and Jesus points to the birds of the air that neither sow nor reap and are still fed.
Within this tradition
At Jesus's baptism, according to the gospels, the Holy Spirit descends on him like a dove. Ever since, the dove in Christian imagery has been a sign of the Spirit, of peace and of God's nearness. The dove plays a part with Noah too: she returns with an olive leaf, the sign that the waters are going down and there is new life. A white dove in a dream is therefore often read hopefully.
The raven has a more double role in the Bible. Noah first releases a raven, which flies to and fro. But it is also ravens that bring the prophet Elijah bread and meat in the wilderness, at God's command. So in the Christian tradition a black bird need not be ominous: sometimes care comes from an unexpected direction.
In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus says: look at the birds of the air. They neither sow nor reap, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. A dream full of birds can thus be read as an invitation to trust, especially in a period of worry.
As with every dream, discernment applies. The tradition holds a dream up against your own life first, then against Scripture, and discusses it with people you trust.
