Dreaming of cheating in the Bible: meaning
In the Christian tradition faithfulness is a core value, and precisely for that reason a dream about infidelity cuts so deep. But the tradition does not read such a dream as a revelation. It asks instead what the dream says about trust, fear and love.
Within this tradition
In his well-known chapter on love, Paul writes that love keeps no record of wrongs, believes all things and hopes all things. That does not mean you have to be naive, but it does mean love wants to assume the good as long as there is no reason not to. A dream is not such a reason. The tradition therefore advises against using a dream about infidelity as evidence, or confronting your partner as if it were true.
The dream can, however, lay something bare. Perhaps you feel less seen, or carry an old wound from an earlier relationship. Perhaps something in the relationship needs attention. Taking that undercurrent seriously and talking about it is something entirely different from distrusting your partner.
If you dream that you yourself are unfaithful, the dream can be about temptation, about something you are missing, or about guilt over something quite different. Jesus speaks of adultery in the heart, but a dream is not a conscious choice. The tradition sees room here for honesty and, where needed, for confession and forgiveness.
As always, discernment applies: a dream is tested against Scripture, prayer and conversation with people you trust, and not detached from your real life.
Common variations
Your partner is unfaithful in the dream
Not evidence. More a question about your own insecurity or about something in the relationship that needs attention.
Being unfaithful yourself in the dream
Can be about temptation or about something you are missing. The dream itself is not a sin.
Forgiving in the dream
Often a sign of inner healing, especially after a real experience of infidelity.
A broken wedding ring
An image of a covenant under pressure. The question is what it needs in order to heal.

Is dreaming about cheating a sin?
No. A dream is not a conscious choice. The tradition does ask for honesty about what the dream stirs in you.
Should I distrust my partner after such a dream?
No. Love believes the good as long as there is no real reason not to. A dream is not that reason.
