Dreaming of your ex in the Bible: meaning
In the Christian tradition a dream about an ex is rarely read as a message. It can, however, lay something bare: grief that is not yet finished, something that needs forgiveness, or a question about where you now place your trust.
Within this tradition
A relationship that ends is a loss, and loss asks for grief. Christian pastoral care recognises that the end of a relationship or marriage may also be grieved, and that dreams are part of that. A dream in which your ex returns is therefore first held up against your own life: where are you in that loss, and what have you not yet given a place?
Often the dream touches forgiveness. A dream full of argument or reproach can show that something is still stuck, in yourself or towards the other. The tradition does not see forgiveness as pretending nothing happened, but as letting go of the right to retaliation. That can take a long time, and a dream can be a sign that the process is still under way.
Paul writes that whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old has passed away. That text is sometimes read as encouragement for those who notice the past returning in dreams. The old may be over, even if it still visits at night.
As with every dream, discernment applies. A dream is not an instruction to get in touch or restore a marriage. Such decisions belong to prayer, Scripture and conversations with people you trust.

Does God want me to go back to my ex?
The tradition does not read that from a dream. Such a decision belongs to prayer, Scripture and good advice from people you trust.
Why do I keep dreaming about my ex?
Often because grief or forgiveness is not yet finished. The tradition sees that as part of a process, not as failure.
