Dreaming of keys in the Bible: meaning
In the Bible keys stand for authority and access. Jesus gives Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and in Revelation the risen Christ holds the keys of death. A key in a dream is read along those lines as access, trust and responsibility.
Within this tradition
When Peter confesses who Jesus is, Jesus says to him: I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Those keys stand for authority and responsibility, and the keys of Peter are a well-known Christian symbol to this day. A dream in which you receive a key can be read in that light as trust being given to you, and the question of what you will do with it.
In Revelation the risen Christ says: I hold the keys of death and Hades. For Christians that is an image of hope: what seemed closed has been opened. A dream about a door that opens after all is therefore often read hopefully.
Isaiah speaks of the key of the house of David: what he opens no one shuts, and what he shuts no one opens. There keys are the image of a door that God opens or keeps closed. A dream about a door that will not open can thus also be a question about patience and trust.
As always, the tradition tests the dream against Scripture, prayer and people you trust. A dream about lost keys is often simply about busyness.
