Dreaming of your period in Islam: meaning
In Islam menstruation is called hayd. The Quran mentions it in the chapter of the Cow, and fiqh has rules for it: during menstruation a woman does not pray or fast, and afterwards comes the ghusl, the ritual washing. In classical dream interpretation menstruation is often read as cleansing and a new beginning.
Within this tradition
In Islam menstruation is a natural part of life that God has decreed for women, as according to tradition the Prophet told Aisha when she got her period during the pilgrimage and was sad. A woman is exempt from prayer during her period, and makes up missed fasting days later. Afterwards she performs the ghusl, after which she prays again. The rhythm of menstruation and cleansing thus belongs to religious life.
In the works attributed to Ibn Sirin, menstruation in a woman's dream is often read as relief after hardship, the end of a worry, or a new phase. Performing the ghusl after menstruation is read as repentance, cleansing and return to the good. Some interpreters read menstruation for an older woman as the return of something that seemed over. Those readings are possibilities, not predictions.
Whoever dreams of menstruation during Ramadan need not worry about her fast: only an actual period has consequences, a dream does not.
As always in tabir the dreamer counts. A dream around one's own period often simply comes from the body. With questions about the rules consult someone knowledgeable, and with physical complaints a doctor.
