Dreaming of your mother in Islam: meaning
Islam gives the mother a special place: the Quran ties kindness to parents directly to gratitude to God. A mother in a dream is read with that respect in mind, and always with attention to the dreamer's state and to the kind of dream.
Within this tradition
The Quran says that God has commanded people to be good to their parents, and it names the mother's hardship in particular: she carried her child in weakness upon weakness (31:14), and bore it with difficulty and delivered it with difficulty (46:15). In a well-known saying recorded by al-Bukhari and Muslim, a man asks who among people most deserves his good company. The Prophet answers three times: your mother, and only then: your father. Any dream about a mother is read against that background of gratitude and care.
Classical dream books, such as those attributed to Ibn Sirin, treat a mother as an image of nourishment and support: the one who feeds, shelters and holds a household together. Some interpreters connect her with livelihood, with the home or with the world a person depends on. These readings differ from book to book. Dreamkin offers them as the way the tradition looks, not as statements about what your dream means.
The first question, as always, is what kind of dream it was. Islamic teaching distinguishes the true dream, the ru'ya, which comes from God, the troubling dream, the hulm, which comes from Shaytan, and the dream that only repeats what the soul itself is busy with. Someone who dreams of their mother after a phone call, an argument or a long absence is usually dealing with the last kind, and it need not be shared or interpreted.
A warm, calm dream in which a mother smiles, speaks gently or gives you something is generally read favourably: blessing, and a bond in good order. A dream in which she is distressed or asks for something is more often taken as a reminder of the duty of care: a call that was not made, a visit postponed, a quarrel left open. The tradition does not turn that into a verdict on anyone.
If a dream leaves you uneasy, the advice preserved in the hadith is to seek refuge with God, not to dwell on it and not to tell everyone. A good dream may be shared with someone who loves you or who is wise. For many people such a dream is simply a reason to call their mother. Nothing more is asked of you than what kindness to your mother already asks.
Common variations
A mother who smiles or speaks gently to you
Read favourably in the classical sources: blessing, ease in the household and a bond in good order.
A mother who is upset or in need
Often taken as a reminder of what a child owes: calling, visiting, putting open matters right. Not read as a prediction about her.
Receiving food or a gift from your mother
Linked with nourishment and support. Food from a mother is a classic image of care.
Being embraced by your mother
Comfort and reassurance. As with any dream, the dreamer's state counts.

Does the Quran say anything about dreaming of your mother?
Not directly. The Quran speaks of the mother's rights and hardship, and dream interpretation draws on that, together with the classical dream books.
Do I have to interpret every dream about my mother?
No. Most dreams about a mother belong to what the soul is already busy with. The tradition asks for restraint rather than constant interpreting.
