Dreaming of police in the Bible: meaning
Paul writes that the government is God's servant for your good, and that whoever does good need not be afraid. At the same time the prophets stand on the side of those who suffer injustice. A police dream is therefore read in the Christian tradition in the light of authority, conscience and justice.
Within this tradition
In Romans 13 Paul writes that those in authority are there to promote the good and restrain evil. Whoever does good need not fear the government. He adds that you keep the rules not only out of fear of punishment, but also for conscience's sake. A dream in which you fear the police can be read in that light as a question to your conscience: is there something you need to set right?
At the same time the Bible shows that authority can go astray. The prophet Amos cries: let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Jesus himself was arrested and condemned innocently, and the apostles told the council: we must obey God rather than men. A dream in which you are wrongly arrested can thus be about injustice you experience, and about longing for true justice.
First John says: there is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out fear. Whoever is troubled by anxiety dreams about punishment can find comfort in that: the Christian faith speaks of grace that is greater than guilt.
As always, the tradition tests a dream against prayer, Scripture and people you trust.
