Dreaming of police
Police in a dream are often about rules, guilt and authority: the fear of being caught, the feeling of being judged, or on the contrary a longing for protection and justice.
Interpret your own dreamWhy you dream about this
The police stand for order, rules and authority. In dreams they therefore often evoke two very different feelings: fear and safety. Which of the two prevails largely determines the meaning.
Being chased or arrested by the police is often about guilt or the fear of being caught, sometimes over something small you feel uneasy about: a white lie, a postponed task, a secret. It can also be about the feeling that others judge you, or that you must keep to rules that do not suit you. Getting a fine often points to the idea that you must pay for something.
Asking the police for help, or being protected by an officer, is usually read more positively: you seek safety or justice, or someone with authority is on your side. Being a police officer yourself in a dream can be about responsibility, or about the tendency to control others.
For people who have had negative experiences with the police, a police dream can also simply process fear or injustice. Traditions look above all at authority and justice: Islam speaks of enjoining the good, Paul calls the government a servant of God, and in China the incorruptible judge Bao Gong stands as a symbol of justice.
What it means in each tradition
The same dream. 3 traditions. 3 different ways of seeing it.
Islamic
The Quran speaks of a community that calls to the good, enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong. In classical Islamic dream interpretation guards and holders of authority often stand for justice, order and accountability. Police in a dream can be read along those lines.

Paul writes that the government is God's servant for your good, and that whoever does good need not be afraid. At the same time the prophets stand on the side of those who suffer injustice. A police dream is therefore read in the Christian tradition in the light of authority, conscience and justice.

In China Bao Gong, Judge Bao, is the symbol of incorruptible justice: an official of the Song dynasty who according to the stories judged without respect of persons. In the folk interpretation around the dream book of Zhou Gong officials and holders of authority in a dream are often read as authority, recognition or a matter being set right.
