Kinaya
Symbolic or punning language through which a dream image points to another concept.
Kinaya refers to the indirect, symbolic language classical interpretation uses: a word or image in a dream may point to another word with a similar sound, root or meaning. This is one reason classical dream interpretation is so language-sensitive: a reading that works in Arabic through wordplay does not always translate one to one into another language.
