Who is Leba?
Leba is the winti of the street, the road and the crossroads. She counts as gatekeeper: she opens contact between people and the winti, and without her that contact is hard to establish. She also cleanses: she sweeps the road clean and drives off harmful spirits.
Practitioners describe her as a figure in old clothes or rags, mamyo, with a broom. The banana tree is named as her home. She is said to go about mainly after midnight, and in stories the howling of dogs at night is linked with her rounds.
Leba in dreams
A figure sweeping towards you with a broom is often read within the tradition as Leba cleaning your path. That is seen as favourable: something that was in the way is being swept aside.
Crossroads, streets at night and a woman in rags can also point to Leba. Because she opens the gate, a Leba dream is sometimes read as a sign that contact with your winti is coming, or that a road that was closed is opening again.
What Leba asks
A leba pai, an offering for Leba, contains according to practitioners molasses, a broom, scraps of cloth, sweets, fruit and ripe bananas, among other things. Molasses water is also mentioned. Dreamkin describes this as part of the tradition; whether and how you do such a thing belongs with someone who has knowledge.
Someone who notices in a dream that a road is blocked, or keeps stopping at a crossroads, can connect that with Leba within the tradition. A luku can help to see what is going on.

Is Leba a good or a harmful winti?
Leba is seen mainly as a protector and cleanser. Like every winti she has two sides, and how she shows herself depends on the relationship.
