Winti

Asi

The person who carries a winti; literally the horse.

Asi literally means horse. In Winti the asi is the person who carries a winti: the winti rides its carrier, as it were, and can manifest through that person, for example during a winti prey.

After a death a winti can pass to a new family member, and then first show itself in dreams. Dreams about dance, song or a figure in traditional dress are therefore sometimes read as a winti seeking a new asi or making itself known to its asi.
