Djodjo
The supernatural parents who protect you from birth.
In the Winti tradition every person has, alongside their earthly parents, djodjo: supernatural protectors bound to you from birth.
They may show themselves in dreams as a figure who watches, warns or points the way. Often that figure is not someone you know, yet the presence feels familiar.
A dream in which you are protected by someone without a face, or in which a stranger holds you back from something dangerous, is sometimes read in this light.
