Winti

Sreka and teri

Honouring a winti, often by giving it its clothing or jewellery.

Sreka and teri mean honouring and respecting a winti. Often this is done by giving the winti what is due to it: its clothing, such as a pangi, koto or headdress, or a piece of jewellery that belongs to it.

This comes up often in Winti readings. Someone who sees a winti in dress in a dream, or is shown clothing or a ring, is often advised to sreka that winti: buy what was shown, wash it and wear it, ideally with that winti's bath.
